Frequently asked questions
Short answers about planning meet-ups for Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026.
How early should I get to my Meet Point?
We suggest arriving about 30 minutes before the ETA shown for your Meet Point. This will give you time to find a good viewing spot and guard against any variables such as your runner going out at a faster pace.
When will my runner pass my Meet Point?
Every time shown is an estimate. The ETA next to each Meet Point is your runner's estimated time of arrival — worked out from the finishing time you entered and your runner's own start time, spread evenly across the 42.195 km course. On the day, whether they run faster or slower than expected can move each time by several minutes.
Can the times change on race day?
Yes. Your runner's real start time, their pace, crowds, weather and drink stations all shift things. It can take several minutes for runners to cross the start line after their wave begins. Treat every time as an estimate and get to your spot early.
What time does the race start?
Details for each available race are included in the race page.
How do I add a Meet Point?
On the plan screen, tap anywhere along the blue course line on the map. You can also add one of the popular supporter spots below the map with a single tap.
Is this live tracking?
No. Marathon Meets is a supporter planning tool — it is designed to get you to your viewing spot on time and shows estimates only and does not follow your runner's position. There is no GPS tracking. The official race app may offer some more details which can help you see how your runner is getting on on the day versus their target time.
Is the course route official?
No. The course line comes from a third-party GPS track of the 2025 race whose streets match the organisers' official 2026 map, but it has not been verified by the organisers. Always check the official map too.
Do I need an account, and does it cost anything?
No account and no cost. Your plan is saved on your device, and you can share it with friends and family using the share link — anyone who opens it sees the same runners and Meet Points.
Can I change my runner's details later?
Yes. Tap Edit next to a runner on the plan screen to change the runner's name, expected finishing time or start time. All the estimated arrival times update straight away.
